Monaé Nickerson has served the Prince William County and Dumfries communities for over 17 years as a Community Steward. Today not only is she an elected official, but she continues to volunteer across the County and serve on numerous Boards and Commissions. In 2018 Monaé decided to elevate her service platform by seeking election to the Dumfries Town Council. Elected to office in 2018 and appointed as the first Black Female Vice Mayor, Monaé has worked with local and state leaders on infrastructure improvements, community engagement, and economic development. In 2022 she was reelected to serve her second term!
Monaé is an HR professional with a Master's degree from Strayer University and an alumna of Leadership Prince William. Monaé owns her home in the Town of Dumfries with her husband, and their children are products of PWC Public schools.
Monaé lives by and engages her community with her motto, "Don't just complain, contribute," encouraging civic involvement.
